Cindy Similien-Johnson is guided by the principle: “Live to love; work to improve the lives of others; and, create a legacy.” A graduate of Barnard College-Columbia University, Ms. Similien-Johnson is a prolific author of several books.

She recently published the critically acclaimed children’s book, “Haiti Is,” which introduces young readers to the beauty and wonder of Haiti.

She is also a columnist for the Haitian Times writing on topics including finances, relationships, and purpose to empower people, particularly the Haitian Diaspora, to live their best lives.

In an effort to stay connected to her Haitian roots, she founded “Cook Like a Haitian,” a brand whose mission is to share Haitian cuisine with the world through her bestselling e-cookbooks. She spent half a decade researching, collecting, and editing stories from the Haitian Diaspora, which culminated into a published book entitled, “Let’s Speak Haitian Food: Stories from the Haitian Diaspora on Cuisine, Community, and Culture.”
